Planing- We planned our mousetrap car using some great websites and asking our friends Stephen and Andy who had already done
it. The requierments of the mousetrap where for the mousetrap to go 5 meters, it couldnt be made from a kit and you couldnt
push it.
Our materials we bought keeping a budget-
-woden board to put the mouse trap in
-carbon fiber rod for the axles
-copper rod to put the axles and the ball bearings in
-cds for the back wheels
How we put it together-
-cut a piece from the wood
-put together the axles,ball-bearings and rods
-push the ball-bearings into the copper
-put the axles through the ball-bearings
-attach the CD's to the axle by drilling a hole in them and cutting out a piece of wood
-then glue the piece of wood to the Cd in the middle
-stick some ball-bearings inside the front wheel and put the axles and glue them.
-glue the mousetrap to the car and tie the string to the rod
-glue the string onto the mousetrap spring
-glue the fishing-line to the carbon fiber rod and on the back axle.
-decorate the car with sharpies
How we improved it-
We added an extra CD on the back wheels so that it would get more traction and give it more weight on the back to slow
it down and give it more distance and stability.
Our Results
It first went 27 feet then Charles fixed it up a little and in the race it went 52.2 feet. It did better than what we
expected but if we could change it we would make the string and rod longer, and have bigger lighter wheels. Also we would
make the car longer.
